Product Description
Achillies Zephyr 22 Combo
Dynamic Response. Classic American Tone. Made for the Player.
The Achillies Zephyr 22 Combo strikes the perfect balance between vintage tone, dynamic playability, and practical volume—making it a true “desert island amp” for discerning guitarists. Sitting comfortably between the airy chime of the Zephyr 15 and the fuller-bodied power of the Zephyr 35, the Zephyr 22 offers 22 watts of harmonically rich output—ideal for small stages, studios, and rehearsals where tone and touch sensitivity matter most.
At its heart is a handwired circuit inspired by one of the most revered mid-60s American amplifier platforms, known for its iconic clean-to-grit transition, dimensional tube-driven reverb, and lush optical tremolo. Whether you're laying down articulate clean passages or digging in for bold breakup, the Zephyr 22 responds with tight bass, sparkling highs, and a beautifully compressed midrange that remains musical at every setting.
Choose between a 1x12” or 2x10” speaker configuration, both loaded with premium Jensen Vintage Ceramic drivers. The 12” option gives you rounder lows and broader projection—perfect for fuller clean tones and open voicings—while the 2x10” setup tightens the low end and enhances note definition, offering that punchy, focused midrange that cuts through the mix with clarity.
Additional features include:
-
All-Tube Signal Path: Featuring 6V6 power tubes for smooth breakup and natural compression.
-
Tube-Driven Reverb & Tremolo: Classic 3D-style spring reverb and rich, pulsing tremolo with depth and rate controls.
-
Handwired Construction: Point-to-point wiring with silver Teflon-coated wire and USA-made custom-spec transformers for unmatched reliability and tone purity.
-
Dovetail-Jointed Pine Cabinet: Resonant and road-ready, finished in your choice of tolex and grill cloth for a custom aesthetic.
Whether you're playing roots rock, Americana, surf, blues, or ambient tones, the Zephyr 22 Combo offers an inspiring platform with vintage soul and modern refinement. It’s a tone chaser’s dream in a giggable, expressive, and beautifully crafted combo format.

Speaker Pairing Suggestions for the Zephyr 22 Combo
Jensen C12Q (1x12")
Warm, woody, and well-balanced, the C12Q is a fantastic match for players who want that classic American sparkle with a slightly softer top end. Its smooth breakup and defined low-end make it perfect for clean tones and vintage blues or country playing.
Ideal for: Vintage clean tones, surf, roots, blues.
Jensen P12Q Alnico (1x12")
With its signature airy top end and rich midrange presence, the P12Q brings a touch of liveliness and vintage compression that sings at moderate volume levels. It enhances the amp’s natural sag and touch response—great for dynamic playing styles.
Ideal for: Rockabilly, jazz, low-gain rock, and expressive lead work.
Jensen Blackbird 100 Alnico (1x12")
This high-power Alnico speaker offers incredible clarity, shimmering highs, and deep, articulate bass. With a bit more headroom and dynamic range, it allows the Zephyr 22 to stay clean longer while adding elegance and air to both clean and driven tones.
Ideal for: Players needing more headroom, ambient textures, and nuanced articulation.
Celestion Alnico Cream (1x12")
A rich, harmonically complex speaker that adds a bit of British refinement to the Zephyr’s American voice. Creamy mids, sparkling highs, and a strong low-end round out this powerful yet musical option.
Ideal for: Blues-rock, vintage soul, fusion, and players who want a slightly fuller voice with character.
Jensen C10Q (2x10")
Opting for a 2x10” setup gives you faster attack, punchier mids, and a more immediate response. The C10Qs are lightweight and full of vintage charm, offering plenty of sparkle and midrange focus. Great for cutting through a band mix without sacrificing warmth.
Ideal for: Funk, country, classic rock, and articulate rhythm work.

Zephyr 22
This is the third model Labros made for me and it's my personal favorite for all round size, sound, versatility, and tone. At 22 Watts I found it wasn't always loud enough for larger venues so Labros suggested he soup it up to a 30 Watt with a 15 Watt switch option. This is my workhorse amp now and I highly recommend it. Ironically, I mostly use it on the 15 Watt setting, but it's nice to have the head room there for the larger gigs.

Stunning build & Quality
I suppose good things comes to those that wait. After an agonising wait of 6 weeks that felt like 6 months due to my eagerness to get hold of this amp. What a great looking amp, well built. Quality components. It sings like a bird without any pedals. Great reverb sound, plugged a strat straight in , a few twiddles of the tone section & there was the sound I wanted. Breaks up nicely at louder volumes. Well worth the wait. Over the moon with this. Thanks Labros.
